Oasis Venture

Oasis Venture immerses highly capable but often marginalized teens into Nashville’s thriving entrepreneurial community and the world of start-ups. A 15-week program, Venture guides youth cohorts in mastering foundational business concepts and networking with local entrepreneurs.

But the program isn’t just a “crash course” in business skills. Venture is unique in that our goal is to help youth create and launch actual businesses. To make it happen, youth entrepreneurs are paired with individual mentors from the local entrepreneurial community and receive the support of program co-founder Marcus Whitney of the Unlikely Company.

The program culminates in a “Pitch Day,” where actual investors and community supporters get a chance to hear youth present their business models. Youth who go on to create business receive ongoing support from the program.

For interested youth who cannot commit to or aren't ready for the 15-week program, Venture also provides quarterly "Power Sessions." These one-day workshops provide a highly interactive experience for youth to build business skills, think critically about social problems, and develop a deeper understanding of what it takes to be an entrepreneur.

16 youth completed the Venture cohort experience in its second year in 2017.

Who We Need

Mentors play a critical role in the development of entrepreneurs. We need individuals with a background in entrepreneurship, experience with youth, and a passion for developing the next generation of budding entrepreneurs.
