The Bike Workshop

Since 2009, the Bike Workshop has helped hundreds of young people gain technical skills, healthy habits, and self-sufficiency through our earn-a-bike program.

The Bike Workshop relies on our volunteers to serve as mentors to participants – but don't worry! You don't need special skills to help out. Our volunteers work with young people to build a bike from frame to finish, using one of the many bikes donated from our community members. Along the way, youth learn repairs, maintenance, and bike safety as well as problem-solving skills, patience, and the sense of pride that comes with seeing a project through to the end.

Once finished, youth get to keep the bike they’ve built, along with a bike helmet, took kit, a newfound opportunity for healthy living, and the freedom that comes with having their own personal transportation. Youth also pledge to pass on their new skills to help others in their community.
