No matter where you start, you can go anywhere.
Oasis Center is a place where you can be yourself. A place where you can explore your interests and become the person you want to be in a safe, welcoming atmosphere. With over a dozen programs to choose from, there's something for everyone. And you don’t have to pick just one—many of our youth participate in multiple programs.
We’ve helped thousands of youth just like you—and most of them started out just like you, too. Read stories from real Oasis Center youth, volunteers, and staff. Read more about all of the program offerings available—from art classes to a Mayor’s council to LGBTQ+ groups and more.
Lauryn
Lauryn’s passion and commitment to Nashville’s refugee community are at the heart of all she has accomplished. A recent graduate of USN, she has been an influencer involved in key community initiatives, including the Mayor’s Youth Council, the Nashville Center for Empowerment, USN’s Teaching English as a Second Language Club, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. And she is just getting started! In the fall, Lauryn will attend Pomona College in Southern California majoring in Public Policy Analysis.
Erik
“Oasis is where you want to be if you want to succeed.” Erik is a young man with a vision as bright as his smile. Not unlike many teens, the road to success is easy to dream. Getting there is the hard part. As a sophomore at Pearl Cohn, he learned that Oasis Transitions could help. After completing an internship in the Bike Workshop, Erik’s smile lights up Oasis on a regular basis as he continues to work with his Transitions and College Connection mentors to plan his future and make it happen.
Jessica
“Age is not what makes you more mature, it’s experiences!” As a second language learner, Jessica had an uphill climb learning English, feeling like she belonged, and finding her sense of place in a community that was very different than her home. She found her anchor here at Oasis in our College Connection Program. With her “go for it” drive, hard work, and experiences beyond her years, Jessica is set to attend New York’s Columbia University in the fall majoring in Biophysics.
