Oasis Center Plants Trees!

Last month, 13 young people from our Just Us and Becoming Us programs engaged in a joint service project to beautify the Youth Opportunity Center, Oasis Center's home base. Together, they planted several trees around our building's property, which are already in bloom! The young people who planted the trees can now see the fruits of their labor when they visit Oasis.

Special thanks to our partners Root Nashville for donating the magnolia and black gum trees and to the Cumberland River Compact for providing gloves and tools and instructing participants on the proper way to plant a tree.

International Teen Outreach Program) at Margaret Allen and JFK Middle Schools also planted trees on their respective campuses. They planted a total of eight trees, including tulip poplar (Tennessee's state tree) and oak trees, and had a blast getting their hands dirty digging holes, loosening tree roots, and putting the trees in the ground.

A representative from the Nashville Tree Foundation, which donated the trees, taught the young people proper planting techniques and talked to them about the importance of trees to our environment and our planet.
