WeCity Week 2021

In late July, nearly 25 young people participated in the annual youth leadership training camp called WeCity Week. This year the camp was not residential but held at the beautiful downtown location of Cumberland River Compact's event space in the Bridge Building.
Some highlights of the week were: teambuilding outside in the riverfront's Cumberland Park through a series of low ropes-style activities, lunch downtown at 5th & Broad's Assembly Food Hall before a visit to the National Museum of African American Music, and intentional dialogue with community leaders from the Education Trust of Tennessee, TN Disability Coalition, and more.
After WeCity Week, youth are encouraged and invited to apply to youth action programs at Oasis and across Nashville, including the WeCity Cohort, a group that will continue to learn about systems and systemic change throughout the school year. The WeCity 21-22 Cohort began meeting shortly after Labor Day.
