PRESS RELEASE: Oasis Center's New CEO
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 5, 2025) – The Oasis Center, one of Nashville’s leading youth-serving organizations, has announced it has selected its next president and CEO. Dr. LaRhonda S. Dingle Magras will take the helm on July 7, 2025. The announcement follows a competitive and rigorous interview process, during which hundreds of qualified applicants from across the country vied for the position.
The Oasis Center works with over 3,500 young people and their families each year, providing trauma-informed care to those in need. More than 20 programs run through the Oasis Center, giving youth the resources, leadership training and community of care they might not receive elsewhere. The organization is on a mission to build relationships that advance youth well-being, amplify youth voice, and inspire action toward a just community.
“The Board of Directors are thrilled to welcome LaRhonda as the new CEO,” stated Jill Heyman, Oasis Board President. “After an extensive search, the Board unanimously agreed that LaRhonda’s visionary leadership, proven track record, and deep commitment to our mission make her the ideal leader to guide our organization into its next chapter. We look forward to partnering with LaRhonda to expand our impact, deepen our community engagement, and build on the strong foundation already in place.”
Adding to the chorus of supporters, outgoing CEO Mark Dunkerley said, “LaRhonda is the perfect person to lead Oasis into its next chapter. She has the right combination of experience, passion and leadership to ensure that Oasis continues to meet the unique needs of teenagers and young adults in Middle Tennessee. We are lucky to have her.”
Dr. Magras has dedicated her career to non-profit leadership and youth and community development. She is a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University, where she earned her Doctor of Education (EdD) in Leadership & Professional Practice. She has previously served as Executive Director at the Tennessee Food Bank Association, CEO of YWCA Central Alabama, SVP of Programs at YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee, VP of Youth Development at Martha O’Bryan Center, and Director of Children and Youth Initiatives in Mayor Karl Dean’s administration, among other roles.
Of the change, Dr. Magras commented, “I am honored to join the Oasis Center as its next President and CEO. For more than 50 years, Oasis has been a beacon of hope and possibility, offering young people a safe space where they are seen, heard, and supported. I look forward to listening and learning from the youth, staff, board, and partners who make this work possible, and to building a future together where every young person can thrive.”
